R controlled vowels: ir as in girl, er as in her, ur as in turn
The letter r changes the sound of vowels. This week we will work with ir/er/ur which sound like a growl: grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (or the end of my name: Piper).
Practice the words everyday and soon you will know how to read and write them. This is what we do on our whiteboards in class. Students can use i-pad Notes to write the words.
Dear Family, Read the following while your student writes the words.
