Module 6
Module 6 is advanced review. While the concepts are not new, the work is more difficult. There will be video links and illustrations to help students. Some students will not use Module 6 but instead use Module 1 for reinforcement. When we begin practicing money, I will have all students work on that concept. The big idea is that when you are doing any story problem always read (or listen), draw and then write the number sentence and label. Don't skip steps, even if you know the answer. There maybe easier ways to solve a problem but try to use the workbook examples so you know different ways to solve problems. That is second grade thinking!

Using tape diagrams Expressing numbers in different ways
Lesson 1

Lesson 2

Lesson 3
Watch this video on place value: https://jr.brainpop.com/math/numbersense/placevalue/
All numbers have place value. You can write a number in different way: 23 is 23 ones or as 2 tens 3 ones. Be careful not to mix up your tens and ones. Sing the "ones are at the end" song.
Do a sprint. Do your workbook and count very carefully.
Lesson 4
You can write (express) numbers in different ways. You can make a number bond. Remember the total (greatest number) goes in the box by itself. You can also write numbers as tens and ones. The expanded form is when you stretch a number out (23=20+3) Look at the orange box for a reminder of the different ways to express numbers.
Do a sprint and your workbook.
