ew, oo: as in new, soon
When you smell something disgusting you say "ewwwwwwwwww!" that's the sound we are learning. There are several ways to make the sound but we are going to practice ew and oo as in new and soon.
Practice the words everyday and soon you will know how to read and write them. This is what we do on our whiteboards in class. Students can use i-pad Notes to write the words.
Dear Family, Read the following while you student writes the words.
Start with the word new, n-e-w. Say new. Write new. Read new. What is the opposite of new? Old!
Change the n to a f and you have few. Say few. Write few. Read few. What is the opposite of few? Many!
Change the f to fl and you flew. Say flew. Write flew. Read flew. There is no such word as flyed. It is flew. The birds flew.
Change the f to bl and you have blew. Say blew. Write blew. Read blew. This is not a color word. I blew bubbles yesterday. There is no such word as blowed.
Change the bl to ch and you have chew. Say chew. Write chew. Read chew.
