To remember the sound ow and ou make, think about when you skin your knee OWWWWWWWW!
Practice the words everyday and soon you will know how to read and write them. This is what we do on our whiteboards in class. Students can use i-pad Notes to write the words.
Dear Family, Read the following while your student writes the words:
Start with the word now, n-o-w. Say now. Write now. Read now.
Change the n to a c and you have cow. Say cow. Write cow. Read cow.
Change the c to h and you have how. Say how. Write how. Read how.
Change the h to a br and you have brow. Your brow is above your eye. Say brow. Write brow. Read brow.
Add an n to the end and you have brown. Say brown. Write brown. Read brown.
Change the br to cl and you have clown. Say clown. Write clown. Read clown.
The letters ou also make this sound as in the word out. Say out. Write out. Read out.
Add sh to out and you have shout. Say shout. Write shout. Read shout.
Change the sh to ab and you have about. Say about. Write about. Read about.
Try to write the loud. l-o-u-d. Say loud. Write loud. Read loud.

If you practice this with ow and ou words several times a week your student will improve quickly. If your student needs the lesson to go more slowly, then slow it down. It's practice.

Review sheet. Write and read the new words. In your journal write about something you like to do by yourself and another sentence about something you do with your family or friends. If you want to write more use the word because to tell why you like it!
