The Vertical Form
Vertical means up and down instead of across. We have been writing number sentences from left to right but now we will try them up and down. There are some important things to remember. First, the numbers you are adding, or subtracting, are stacked on top of each other. Next, the addition symbol + goes out to the left side. Then, you draw a line for the equal sign. Finally, the total goes underneath, on the bottom. Look at these examples!
